Have you ever been to Atami?

Located in Kanagawa, this seaside city faces a beautiful stretch of ocean. I’ve visited twice, and each time it left a deep impression on me.

Atami still carries a strong Showa-era atmosphere, yet with the growing number of international visitors, you can now find refined restaurants lining the streets. What I miss most is the seafood donburi — incredibly fresh and flavorful. I can honestly say that, aside from Hokkaido, the best seafood bowl I’ve ever had was in Atami.

Built on hills and slopes, the city is perfect for anyone who enjoys walking. Wandering up and down its winding streets, with the sea always nearby, is part of what makes Atami so special.
